Even if you had no intention of getting another pet this soon, you had an idea of a type of cat you’d like; energetic, friendly, and playful. If you had a cat that was more isolated and quiet, it would feel just as empty as it already did around your house. Loud choruses of mewling from the kitten pen made you turn. ‘Well, kittens are playful and energetic,’ you thought to yourself. ‘Not to mention a kitten would have a longer life with me than an adult.’ You decided to give it a try, making your way over to the little pen to stand by Bella.
The woman noticed your presence, patting the spot beside her to come in and sit down. “Make sure Yao doesn’t get in. He’s awfully fond of some of these kittens.” She stated, writing down something on a clipboard you hadn’t noticed she had. This wouldn’t be nearly as easy as you had expected. How were you supposed to find a cat that stood out to you when so much commotion was going about? It was a cruel and unfair way to tre

And so you were left on your own to decide. You stuffed your hands into the pockets of your (__f/c__) hoodie, hands bushing against the treat you were saving for later. You shuffled about awkwardly for another minute before you made a decision: why not look at the kittens first? Your feet took you to the medium-sized pen, some of the cats watching you rather closely as you did so. It unnerved you a bit and you felt a twinge of relief when you were safely by Bella.
“So, you wanted to look at the kittens first?” She asked, curled lips adding brilliancy to her smile. You nodded hesitantly, feeling a bit too cliché going directly for the fuzzy, cute critters without paying as much attention to the adults. After all, kittens were adopted out pretty quickly while the adults had a much more difficult time. Bella seemed to notice your uneasiness and reassured you. “All of these fellas haven’t been here at the shelter too long. Actually, we had two cats adopted ye
